Women's Empowerment

Project Information

Would you like to help empower disadvantaged women by teaching them a handicraft you’re passionate about? Unfortunately, the women living in the rural poor areas of the country, have often led extremely hard lives. Many got pregnant at a young age, didn’t finish school, and are forced to stay in negative situations with their spouses or homelife since they struggle to support themselves.

While volunteering in Costa Rica in handicraft program, you will be able to teach struggling Costa Rican women how to make a handicraft you love and are passionate about. With your help, they will gain therapeutic benefit from doing the craft, a sense of community by coming together with other women, and then can use their skill set to make and sell the products, allowing them to become more self-sufficient.

Change the lives of Costa Rican women in need by contacting us today!

You will bring all the supplies you need and make a lesson plan for teaching poor women as how to make and market crafts. Whether your passion is making candles, creating perfume, or designing sandals, you can share that with an extraordinary group of women that need your help.

Many of the women suffer from post-traumatic stress disorders, have led difficult lives, and struggle to be confident and stand on their own. By teaching a craft you love, you are impacting the lives of these women in a big way. You’ll give them a positive outlet for their energy, and a great sense of community is created.

While volunteering in handicrafts program in Costa Rica, you can also help the women develop products and make a plan for selling them. Give them the skills and confidence they need to strike out on their own and lead more successful lives!

*You will have the opportunity to become involved with numerous volunteer projects while in Costa Rica. You will not be confined to the one project you register for; there is a lot of flexibility. Volunteers typically work on numerous projects with different partners and you will be able to learn about other options available upon your arrival..
